Rogotin is a small riverside village in the Neretva Delta in southern Croatia, located near the town of Ploče. It lies in a dense network of canals, wetlands, and fertile agricultural land formed by the Neretva River as it approaches the Adriatic Sea.
The village is strongly connected to traditional delta life, where boats were historically more important than roads. The characteristic wooden lađa was used for transport, fishing, and working the fields, and this river heritage is still visible today in local culture and seasonal activities.
Rogotin is surrounded by mandarin orchards, vegetable fields, and wetland ecosystems rich in birdlife. The fertile soil of the delta, combined with an extensive irrigation network, makes agriculture one of the main economic activities in the area.
Despite its small size, Rogotin is part of one of the most distinctive landscapes in Croatia — the Neretva Delta — where freshwater, canals, and Mediterranean influences create a unique blend of nature and traditional human settlement.
