Prud is a riverside village in the Neretva Valley of Croatia, located a few kilometers upstream from Metković. Life in Prud has always been closely connected to the Neretva River and its wetlands, where reeds, channels, and fertile fields shape both the landscape and traditional livelihoods.
The village is especially known for preserving the heritage of the lađa, the traditional wooden Neretva boat once used for transport, fishing, and trade along the river and through the delta channels. Generations of local families were skilled boat builders, fishermen, and farmers who adapted to the rhythm of the river and its seasonal floods.
Surrounded by wetlands rich in birdlife and aquatic plants, Prud offers an authentic picture of river life in the Neretva Delta region. Small docks, wooden boats, nets, and gardens along the water create a landscape that has changed very little over time.
Today, Prud is valued for its cultural heritage, peaceful natural setting, and role in keeping alive the traditional river knowledge of the Neretva Valley.
