Boračko Lake

Boračko Lake (Bosnian: Boračko jezero) is one of the most beautiful natural mountain lakes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located about 20 km from Konjic on the northeastern slopes of Mount Prenj. Surrounded by dense conifer forest and steep Dinaric peaks, the lake is of glacial origin and is famous for its clear turquoise water, peaceful atmosphere, and unspoiled nature.

Because of its accessible shoreline, mild summer climate, and scenic setting, Boračko Lake has long been a favorite destination for camping, swimming, kayaking, hiking, and family recreation. A well-known lakeside camp and weekend settlement developed here decades ago, while the broader area remains rich in biodiversity, freshwater springs, and forest trails leading toward Prenj’s high ridges.

The lake sits at around 397 meters above sea level and reaches depths of about 17 meters. Fed by clean mountain streams and underground springs, its water remains refreshingly cold even in the hottest months. Reflections of the surrounding pine forest and rocky peaks give Boračko Lake its characteristic emerald-blue color that changes with the light throughout the day.

Today, Boračko Lake represents an important recreational and ecological site in the Upper Neretva region, valued both by locals and visitors seeking quiet nature away from urban centers.
